Software Tools

The IVIMEDS core development team are working with partner schools to develop a series of proprietary tools to support the use and customisation of e-learning resources by individual teachers. Work is ongoing in a number of areas including

in relation to the IVIMEDS map to build in interoperability with curriculum maps in partner schools and with other learning outcomes and competency frameworks
to support the local customisation and creation of virtual patients in partner schools
providing and developing templates to support the creation of new content and guided learning modules.

Riverside

A large part of the core team's activity through 2008 and into 2009 is the development of Riverside. Riverside is a tool which allows the rapid development of e-learning content. With the ability to import Virtual Patients and control the data available to the viewer Riverside provides the teacher with a very rich content tool that should meet the needs of both teacher and student.

Features of Riverside:

Allow the creation of content packages with chapters and pages
Enables content authors to drag and drop text, images, video, sound and questions onto any page
Enables the user to use ivimeds virtual patients throughout the content package in a number of different ways
Exports content packages in IMS content packaged zip files
Enables rapid project development between different medical schools around the world
Delivered through Adobe's Flash Platform
